Further adventures in right-wing hypocrisy
A sign at the entrance of right-wingbiletopia
Shorter right-wingbiletopia: John Edwards must fire those potty-mouthed bloggers Amanda Marcotte and Shakespeare's Sister right now, or the right-wing nut jobs who'd never vote for you won't vote for you.
Dear right-wingbiletopia:
Before you freak out over Amanda and Shakespeare's Sister's distaste for the religious right, I would advise you to check your own bashing tendencies, when the organized religion to bash is Judiasm.
Before you get all apoplectic about Amanda's mean treatment of the Duke Lacrosse team, maybe you should check reality--she's not Mike Nifong, and she didn't suspend them, or charge them. They have recourse in court, and will likely not be charged when this all shakes out. Not so for the people some of you smeared. Rumor works so much better than a court case, eh? When it comes to smearing people, I could point out a few instances where you did that yourselves. With, might I add, some very dire consequences for the people you mowed down. But you're not liberal, so it's okay, right?
Before you aspirate on your own spittle about Amanda and Shake's use of foul language, you'd better check your own potty mouths. When you post obscene bile about a toddler, you've hit a new low. When you publish the contact information of your opponents and shrug off the death threats and harassment they got with a lukewarm apology ("I don't condone death threats. . .but you need to grow up!"), I'd advise you to maybe stop getting so self-righteous about other bloggers. It's not like you folks ever outed an opponent, right?
Speaking of outing--when you out underage teenaged boys who were sexually harassed by a Senator, you have absolutely no moral authority. Guess that concern about sexual assault only applies when the perps have dark skin, are Muslim, or are liberals (especially if their name is Clinton).
While you're at it, perhaps you should look at your own uncivil and bullying behavior before you freak out over the fact that a liberal had the gall to tell you to shove it in the past. Mocking Molly Ivins' death pretty much makes your moral authority nil. Maybe, in other words, you should follow the moral code you insist liberal women follow.
When right-wing cliques with the mentality of petty high-school children encourage each other to "shit all over this moonbat's comments sections" like some conservative bloggers have done, well, I just can't take your horror at Amanda's language and behavior all that seriously. It pales in comparison to yours.
But do, go ahead, and threaten John Edwards that you'll like, never vote for him because his blog manager is down on organized religion and has a potty mouth. You all were so close, so very close! to voting Democrat, right?
While we're at it--Mr. Riehl, for someone who looks like Lurch, you've got some gall attacking Amanda for her looks.
John Edwards will lose support if he caves to the right, and his Democratic opponents risk being deemed irrelevant if they try to capitalize on this and give these bullying cockroaches any credibility. People are truly sick and tired of the bullying, hypocrisy, and general mouth-foaming of the right. So my advice to the Democrats is this: capitulate at your own risk.
Update: Oh, how the right ignores the sins of the bloggers who work for GOP candidates.
Update II: Liza has a running list of supporters. Express (politely, please) your support for Amanda and Shakes at the Edwards campaign here. And while you're at it, write a letter to the New York Times in response to their article on the subject, pointing out how hypocritical William Donohue is in his condemnation of Amanda and Shakes.
Update III: Shark-fu tells the snarky truth.

I've sent a comment to the Edwards campaign and a letter to the editor of the NYT. *Fingers crossed.*
